Why does any masala movie do good in NRI and in heartland sectors?

NRI's would watch it, cause that's our only connection to our mother land, no we won't watch Omkara cause it is not 'real india'. Real India is where people live in those Mansions in Newyork, work in fashion magazines. Movies like Omkara doesn't have gorgeous women wearing designer sarees, toned men in their Armani suits. Damn the story, damn the plot, all we need is a colour screen to gawk at, with beautiful people prancing around. Making us realize how beautiful and colourful we are, compared to the white bland folk outside selling watered-down coke and stale popcorn.

Heartland crowd: We never watch a movie for the story, Nahi tho, kabhi nahi. All we need is preity zinta to wear a short skirt and do a dumka. The bigger the arc the hip bone sweeps, the longer the line outside 'pooja talkies' will be.
We need few bhari dialogues from Amitabh bachcan on what a nri should do and all the pallus will be drenched with tears. These movies make us realise our 'Bhrtiyata', i.e. crying over false emotions, whistling at false icons.
