Ms. Medha Patkar is news again and everyone is wants to know where I stand on NBA. Here are my thoughts.

When the supreme court has given the orders to rise the height of the dam, one has to follow it, would be really hypocritical saying that we will obey supreme court judgement about Ram janma bhoomi and not obeying this judgement. I am aware of the conditionality of the judgement about rehabilitiation of the affected people. I am just commenting on their (medha and arundhati).

>>>>About Dams in general.
nehru was a big fan of dams, he called them them the "Temples of modren India". Dams have played a very important role in modren Indias development, Major ones which transformed the whole region are bakranangal, nagarjuna sagar etc. Before N.sagar came The northen districts of AP were barren and people used to dirt, now its one of richest area sin Andhra pradesh!

Would one rather worry about a tribe loosing its hunting grounds, sacred places, their culture, or would you rather make the barren lads of Gujarat and madhya pradesh green? What would You chose? The ultra left (arundhati) would want the tribal people to prosper and would hand wave on about some micro-water managemnet techs which work only in their red dreams. The ultra right (captilaists) dont really give a fuck about the tribals.

Middle path! we need to find a balance between our social obligations and development. Let the supreme court, which is the only branch of the Govt , I trust shd step in a nd see no one is short changed.
